The Information Systems Department is responsible for most electronic information processing in the City and is the primary resource for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of data, voice, and video technology. The department also runs the local PEG cable channel.

The Department maintains, develops, and supports systems in the areas of finance, personnel, human services, licenses, real estate assessments, code enforcement, planning, public safety and others.

Technology Overview

The City of Franklin currently has single mode fiber optic cable running to its' departmental buildings.

Our internal network has a multi-platform operating systems structure consisting of:
Cisco and Dell Servers running on windows platforms, Microsoft Exchange Mail Servers, Barracuda Email Firewalls, Cisco Routing and Switching Equipment, Microsoft Windows 7 Clients, SUSE Linux Servers, Cisco UC Phone System, Document Imaging, Wireless Capabilities, and GIS.
