H. Taylor Williams, IV, has been the City Attorney for the City of Franklin since August, 2007. Mr. Williams serves as the legal counsel for the City Council and provides support and legal representation to the various city departments.
Mr. Williams received his Juris Doctorate from T. C. Williams School of Law in May, 1980. He passed the Virginia State Bar Examination in April, 1980 and was admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Virginia in May, 1980. Mr. Williams was in the general practice of law for 27 years prior to becoming the City Attorney. In private practice, Mr. Williams has served as a Special Prosecutor, as a Commissioner in Chancery and served on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board for 12 years.
Mr. Williams has been active in the Franklin Community as a member of various civic organizations, downtown Franklin associations, the YMCA, the Cancer Society Relay for Life. Mr. Williams previously served on the VMI Parent’s Council. Mr. Williams presently sits on the Board of Directors for Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA).
