What to do if your lights go out . . .

Even the most reliable power service can be interrupted occasionally. Plan ahead. Put matches, candles, flashlight and batteries where they are easily found in the dark. Also, store non-perishable food, a first-aid kit and battery-powered radio where others can find them.
If you experience an electrical power outage, first check to see if your neighbor's lights are out too. If not, 1) turn off power at the main switch; 2) check for a blown fuse and 3) replace any blown fuse with a new fuse of the same ampere rating (never put a penny or aluminum foil in a fuse box to replace a fuse - you could cause a fire). If you have circuit breakers, find the one that has interrupted the power flow and turn it completely to the off position and then fully on. After you have either replaced a fuse or reset the circuit breaker, restore the power at the main switch.

If your neighbors lights are out or you are not able to restore power by replacing a fuse or resetting the circuit breaker, call Franklin Municipal Power and Light at 562-8568 M-F 8am-5pm or 562-8575 after hours. Restoring you power is very important to us and will always receive top priority. There is no charge for this service.
