-
- What to do if your lights go out . . .
Even the most reliable power service can be interrupted occasionally.
Plan ahead. Put matches, candles, flashlight and batteries where
they are easily found in the dark. Also, store non-perishable
food, a first-aid kit and battery-powered radio where others
can find them.
- If you experience an electrical power outage, first check
to see if your neighbor's lights are out too. If not, 1) turn
off power at the main switch; 2) check for a blown fuse and 3)
replace any blown fuse with a new fuse of the same ampere rating
(never put a penny or aluminum foil in a fuse box to replace
a fuse - you could cause a fire). If you have circuit breakers,
find the one that has interrupted the power flow and turn it
completely to the off position and then fully on. After you have
either replaced a fuse or reset the circuit breaker, restore
the power at the main switch.
-
- If your neighbors lights are out or you are not able to restore
power by replacing a fuse or resetting the circuit breaker, call
Franklin Municipal Power and Light at 562-8568 M-F 8am-5pm or
562-8575 after hours. Restoring you power is very important to
us and will always receive top priority. There is no charge for
this service.
-
- If your lights go out, please remember:
- Keep freezer and refrigerator doors closed.
- Turn off your electric range for safety when service is restored.
- Leave a light on to show when power resumes.
- When power resumes, restock emergency supplies.
